It most likely has to do with the chase but zombies or cannibals that want to eat you and chase you are the worst, I get horrible anxiety which is why I can’t watch the Walking Dead. Book format is more passable for me but there’s still moments when my heart is in my throat, it’s awful.
I love, love love a mysterious island that perhaps has sci-fi, fantasy or physiological elements in it, it’s something about being isolated from the rest of society, you have nowhere to run, and just thinking about it is awful.
Trapped in a House
Again, the feeling of confinement, there’s only so many places you can go, the mental stress of outsmarting the antagonism, the resilience it takes to battle those forces gives me a horrible claustrophobic feel.
Intelligent Killer is After You
Again, you’re talking about the struggle of intelligent versus intelligent malice, it’s not a dumb brute which you can outsmart. I actually don’t mind it in movie form which is strange for me because I’m very selective about which movies I’m OK with. I also like that many books, like the ones above, allow you to see the process from the killer’s POV. That is always trippy and great.
Intelligent/Creepy Aliens with Plans
There’s something about waking up in the middle of the night to find an alien lifeforms staring at you while you sleep that creeps the FUCK out of me; it most likely has to do with the advanced intelligence and that feeling of vulnerability that comes from this exposure.
