My Rating: red-starred-starred-star 1/2

This was supremely adorable and just plan ole’ cute. The first volume consists of 4 comics as we get to know this group of five very distinct and very bright young ladies that are enjoying their strange Summer at Camp. This is a fantasy novel aimed at kids and young adults and it delivers just that. Filled with adventure and tongue-in-cheek humor which will make it a quick and enjoyable read.

There are some really great things going for it: DIVERSITY! YAY! Racial and sexual-orientation diversity is abundant and that was one of my favorite things. Second: it’s all about the friendship! Triple love that. Each of the girls are unique and each have their own strengths. They’re smart, sassy and loyal to one another. I would most definitely recommend this for a teen or a pre-teen, it’s not earth shattered amazing but it’s still a very good novel.
